Twas another year at Hell's Kitchen. I will most likely do this race every year as it was the first race I had ever done. This was the first year I had to do two laps. I will make this a short report as it wasn't very exciting. I started at the start line the group was big, and it was a little chilly. I was kinda nervous this was the biggest field I had ever ridden in 60 plus riders. I think everyone had a new specialized tarmac pro or sworks model which makes me want something other than a specialized I mean are they really special? The race director does his thing pretty funny actually. Neutral roll out to the first turn then it was race on. First ten minutes half the field was gone. First climb all together. Hells kitchen broke things up pretty good. I was chasing a group of three in front of me. Some dude from Mercy pulls up and we started working together. Catch the group ride hard for half a lap 3 of us worked together. Make a sharp left turn before the .5mile climb a corner Marshall said the main field was 53 seconds ahead we can see them. I pull real hard. We all pull for 30 seconds the field wasn't moving that fast. Catch the field relieved the .5 mile climb starts get dropped get to the top make a hard effort get back on the main field. Still a big group left tried hard to get near the front couldn't. Hells Kitchen started got dropped ended up with the same guys from the earlier chase feed zone hill my legs cramped up had to let the other three go. I rode fairley slow with 2 miles to go I could see a rider behind me I though he wouldn't catch up get to the finishing straight and he is sprinting to try and pass me so I pedaled a little harder and crossed the line before him. I probably wouldn't have sprinted it out with him. I had lots of fun I always seem to be working with people from previous races and they are really nice guys. Competition brings out the worst in people. I have always had positive results from this race it seems that most of the racers that attend are really nice people. My wife and our friend Amango were on the climb this is the second time up. Wait for it, Wait for it, Wait for it, keep waiting, tik tok tik tok tik tok. Hey there he is hes going up that there big hill on his skinny tired bicycle with them there shaved legs and tighty tights on are theses guys the gays I don't know sure do act like it.
